Tonight we are staying in the picturesque Cabinet Gorge RV park very near the Clark Fork River in Montana. Mom and Scott have rented a canoe, and we are going to play some volleyball! Jeremy's birthday was July 9th, but we were too busy with that perfect day to have cake, so tonight we are sharing his favorite...Frozen Peanut Butter pie!
July 13, We've been here at Glacier National Park since Friday evening, and we all really love it here. The mountains are so magnificent and everywhere we look we are awed by our Father's goodness that He would create such beauty for us to enjoy. Several of the families that we had met in Washington were planning a trip for this very weekend and it has been wonderful being able to spend some more time fellowshipping and singing around the campfire and having Bible studies together. Oh yeah, we did some hiking, too!! The hikers yesterday were able to see a couple of grizzly bears with cubs and a moose on their way to Grinnell Glacier!
There are lakes and waterfalls and wildflowers everywhere we look, and more trails to hike that will take us to new wonders. I have been praying that we could see the Northern Lights before we head south, and God answered that prayer Friday night with a glorious display that lit up the sky with shimmery waving beams of white, with a tinge of pink and green. It didn't last long, but it will probably go down as one of the most incredible sights of the trip, and I am so thankful for that opportunity. Some of our friends who live up north said that they have never seen them so bright before, so we feel exceptionally blessed! We all caravanned over the Going To The Sun road, and when we got to the top we went for a hike to Hidden Lake and were excited to see some Big Horn sheep and mountain goats with babies!
Cute, cute, cute!!!!! We said goodbye at the trail head...and having several families with lots of children makes an automatic LONG goodbye ~ hugs all around takes awhile when you are talking about 40 people!!! Now we are back at camp...which feels a bit empty and the wind is blowing a decided chill into the air, which we Okies are just soaking up, thinking about hundred degree temperatures back at home. July 16, Tera, Jesse, Jeremy and I woke up fairly early Monday morning and headed out to Iceberg Lake. The 10 mile hike took us 4 hours to complete, including 45 minutes for lunch and goofing off at the top, and it was worth every step. I can not begin to describe the awesomeness of that spot...you'll just have to go there yourselves!!!!! We thought a lot about our friends who were up there a couple of days before us and went swimming in the lake and climbed around on the icebergs...CRAAAAZZZYYYY!!!!!! But what a glorious spot...and what a majestic Creator!!! On the way back down Tera and I would have walked right by a huge bull moose if Jesse hadn't pointed him out to us. He was right in front of us standing in these trees, and he was magnificent. It was such a treat to see him run up the mountain, and an answer to prayer to see him at all! Our God is so good to me!!!! We left Glacier soon after we returned from our hike and headed south to Big Fork, Montana. I love Flathead Lake. I never tire of looking at all the different colored rocks that glisten through the crystal clear water surrounded by whispering pine trees. We stayed the night at Wayfarer's Campground (appropriately named, don't you think?) and headed south again ~ after Mom, Tera and I breezed through some of the many shops and galleries in that quaint little village. The road we took winded it's way along the river and next to several pristine lakes and beautiful hay fields and was guarded on either side by huge mountains that made everything feel sheltered and comfortable. Phillipsburg was an interesting detour and we enjoyed that cute old town for about 20 minutes and then headed for Anaconda and the Andrews' house. It never ceases to amaze us the way that our Father puts certain people in our lives at just the right time, and that is so evident with Donnie and Jennifer. We met them right as our band was forming, and they have both helped us so much, spending hours helping us to "move" with our music and play together, all the while encouraging us and making us believe that others really would want to hear us. Yes, Yahweh knew what He was doing when He caused our paths to cross, even though it was for a relatively short time. When they moved up here a couple of years ago Montana seemed so far away, much too far for our jam sessions and lessons! It has been nice to catch up, and get to know their four precious children again. Today Jennifer took us to Storm Lake, a gorgeous mountain lake surrounded by brilliant wildflowers. Some of us picnicked by the lake and visited while the others took a seven mile hike into the mountains, and enjoyed some incredible vistas.
