It's been three years since I updated this "journal". Thought I'd mention that...just in case you hadn't noticed. I'm not even going to attempt to fill you in on those three years. We'll just fast forward from 2007. So, here it is 2010...and what has the Naylor Family Band been up to, you ask? Well, in October of 2008 we had our last concert. It wasn't announced that would be
our last concert...no big celebration or anything. We weren't sure it would be our last concert. We all agreed to take a year off. And that year has turned into more than a year.
In that time, we've played together for a funeral for a dear friend of ours, and the guys played at the Home School Reunion in Colorado last summer.
Other than that, there has been very little music making in our house. Perhaps some of us will again someday, but as of now, the Naylor Family Band is history. We thank you all for your love and support over the 10 years that we played together. We met wonderful friends and had good times. Oh...and we still have lots of CD's, so let us know if you would like to order any. So, what are we doing instead? We are definitely more scattered. Mom says she feels like she's living in a boarding house with everyone coming and going all the time. Well, I tried to follow my family around for a couple of days to catch a bit of our lives to share with you here. After all, the Naylor Family Band may be dormant, but the Naylor family isn't! Caleb is investing a lot of his time into volleyball these days. He and John coached for the homeschool league this last year and even though tournaments are over now, it looks like they may be doing some coaching and camps throughout the summer. Caleb, John and Jeremy play volleyball several times a week with their friends, and when he's home, Caleb researches, discusses and thinks about volleyball. He and Jeremy have recently gotten more serious about working out, and enjoy doing that together. Caleb has also developed quite an interest in Craigslist of late...especially the "free" ads. Who knew ads could be so humorous?
On top of volleyball, John has been working at growing his landscaping and lawn care business. He can build rock walls, plant trees, mow lawns, brush hog...you name it, John can do it! So...if you happen to live locally, and need a good honest worker, I highly recommend him. John just became the proud owner of the cutest little puppy ever. He and his brothers have all become SCUBA certified and love to go diving whenever they can. Why, John and Caleb even got a job diving into golf course ponds to retrieve golf balls one day! That's Oklahoma diving at it's best, I'm sure!
Along with SCUBA and volleyball, Jeremy still loves to rock climb and hike. He spent a couple of months up in Colorado working last fall, and loved the access to those beloved Rockies. He has such an incredible way of capturing the world around him with his camera. Check out his photography here: www.jdnpix.blogspot.com
Anna has been really busy lately. Not only has she provided us with fresh lettuce and kale from her greenhouse all winter long, but she's been working part time at a ranch across the street. She cleans stalls and feeds horses for the better part of 5 days a week, and then some evenings she helps with different classes and events that the ranch offers to inner city children. She and Sarah have continued to be involved in the Oklahoma Food Producers Coop, so I went down to the big warehouse to see what they do. Wow, that's quite an operation!
Sarah bought a sailboat and spent quite a lot of time fixing it up last year. She is still doing most of the cooking and grocery shopping....just got more serious about coupon shopping actually...and spoils us all. We really appreciate the healthy gourmet meals she prepares for us. http://www.sarahsculinaryventures.blogspot.com/ She and Anna have been planning a trip to Europe for a couple weeks next month...talk about exciting!!! Yay!!! ![]()
Tera has become a hermit. She never leaves her room, except for meals and to fix herself an occasional cup of hot chocolate...and even then she's talking about getting an electric kettle to keep in her room. Okay, so that's a BIT exaggerated, but not much. She's been working really hard at her school - an interior design course that she's taking through Rhodec International. Between drafting and research and painting and designing...and waiting for those test grades to come back...she's busy up there! Tera has also become interested in photography. She and I have a couple of houses to clean, and still do interior painting, though work has been pretty slow lately.
Mom and Dad are doing well. Since Caleb graduated, Mom is done with homeschooling - after 24 years and 9 graduates! She has been painting, reading and...can you
believe it...blogging!!! Visit her blogs, and be sure to leave her a comment or two. She loves that!
While we're on the subject of blogs, you can check out the blog that we four girls have here: http://thesistersfour.blogspot.com/ As for me, well...I obviously haven't been writing much. I have gotten into a bit of video stuff. Let me tell ya...I am NOT a techy person. But I'm learning so much!
I think that wraps it all up. We're doing well. Always having an adventure or two. Loving Yahweh and wondering what His next step is for us. Thanks for checking up on us. We'd love to hear from you. You can email us at family(@)naylorfamilyband(.)net (Without the parenthesis, of course.)
Until we meet again...may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Love,
