Our latest
recording project - Not My Will - is a compilation of 16 songs, 14 of which are
originals written by one or more of us. The two exceptions are Come Thou
Fount
and Hear, O Israel,
but we included them because Come Thou
Fount
is our all time MOST requested song, and Hear, O Israel
is a
new favorite. Both are original arrangements....doesn't that count? When sharing
original songs, we've learned that there is a lot to say...not just in the songs
themselves, but in the stories behind the
songs....and, sadly, there is
limited room on a cd insert. Consider this the Behind The Scenes page of our
newly released recording - Not My Will....
ENJOY!!!

Another
Chance
"A certain
man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit
thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold,
these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it
down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it
alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear
fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down." Luke 13:6-9

|
Sarah wrote this song, based
on the verse above about a year ago. We all loved how it presented the hope, not
only of being forgiven, but even able to bear fruit - all because of the grace
given through our Savior, Yahshua.
ANOTHER CHANCE
by Sarah Naylor 2006
It was early in the morning
when I walked into the vineyard
The sun was just coming over
the hill
Tears filled my eyes as I
took in the sight of the drooping vines
They wouldn’t respond to My
gentle hands and care.
No fruit again No reason to
keep this branch
No fruit again I’ve worked so
hard, but it just won’t begin...To grow.
I pulled out My shears and
picked the branch up from the ground
When I felt Someone standing
by My side
He took the vine in His nail
scarred hands and held it up
With tears He quietly looked
into My Eyes
Just one more chance Please
don’t give up so soon
Just one last chance I want
this vine to give me precious fruit.…Again.
Several years later after
many a pruning and cutting
That branch flourished again
in the Sun
It was covered with fruit of
the sweetest sort and stood so strong
A sign of submission in the
Master’s hands
Here’s fruit for You Only by
Your grace and mercy
Take all I have What You have
given me, I give back… To You.
There’s fruit again Reason to
keep this branch
There’s fruit again I’ve
worked so hard and it just began... To grow.

Perspective
Perspective
basically started out with a chord progression that I made up. . .I really liked
it so I decided to try and write words for it. When you just sit down with a
guitar and a chord progression, with no song writing experience, and a little
while later you have a song written out on paper. . .you kinda realize that you
didn't have much to do with it! I pray that this song will be a blessing. ~

PERSPECTIVE
by Caleb Naylor 2007
Walking through this life
In this crazy world of strife
Sometimes the journey seems too hard
All our problems seem
so large
Chorus:
But Lord, that's just
our perspective
Nothing's bigger than
You
I know that You will
help us face it all
We just need to trust
in You.
Walking through each
day
It becomes clearer
that You're the only way.
Reading through Your
Word
Time after time, Your
promises are true.
Repeat chorus
So, Lord I thank you for this life You've given me,
And all the trials you put me through.
Throughout each day of trying to serve You,
You just draw me closer, closer to you!
Chorus:
So, Lord that's from Your perspective
Nothing's bigger than You
I know that you will help us face it all
We just need to trust in You.

Mom’s Song
Mom is truly
one of the most incredible women I know. She has an amazing testimony of how she
came to know her Savior, and I’ve always loved to hear her tell it. As her 50th
birthday
approached, I really wanted to write a song for her, but didn't really know how,
or what to write. I prayed
about it and had the outline worked out fairly quickly. Then with some help from
a friend and my sisters, we
had a song
to share with everyone at her party. She hadn’t ever heard the song until that
day, and didn’t even realize it was about her until the line about “her and
three children” and then “in 6 weeks they were married”. Then, boy was she
surprised!!! ~Sage

MOM'S SONG
by Sage Dahlby 2000
Here I am a child, God
As scared as I can be
And if You’re really
there, God Won’t You show Yourself to me?
She searched and
searched for years For real joy and lasting peace
But there seemed to be
no answers Till that day upon her knees.
When she cried aloud
to God And by His grace He heard
With warmth His spirit
filled her With love she was consumed.
Now Jesus is the Saviour He
turned her life around
For out of doubt and sorrow
The truth she finally found.
And He has never left her
From that fateful day
Through the hard times and
the good times He’s beside her all the way.
Here I am Your child, God As
happy as can be
For You’ve been so good and
merciful To such a wretch as me.
Left her old life far behind
her With it’s chains of grief and sin
And committed to serving
Jesus Just her and three children.
Then a man of God’s own
choosing Came into her life one day
When in six weeks they where
married This is what she had to say.
Jesus is my Saviour I owe my
life to Him
And out of doubt and sorrow
He’s joined our two hands.
We will together serve Him
And follow His commands
And when my life is over
Before Him I will stand.
Here I am Your child, Lord As
thankful as can be
For all the love You’ve shown…...me.

In the Years
to Come
While
playing around on the guitar, I had come up with a tune but no lyrics. Then one
day I walked up our long driveway to the mailbox thinking about how - 20
years from now - I could be walking up to check the mail, but everything would
be different. My children would be grown and gone, and I would be alone
fulfilling the call of an older woman. I went directly to the studio and picked
up the guitar and the words just came forth. This song is dedicated to all the
older women out there who have comforted their children and many others, and
know the Comforter who gives us abundantly everything we need.. ~Karin

IN
THE YEARS TO COME
by Karin Naylor 2005
In the years to come I envision some What it
feels to be alone
Children grown and gone Always moving on Now I'm
left here on my own
Many years I dried your tears Embraced you in my
arms
Stood beside you as you faced your fears
Always there when you needed me near
As I look ahead I see my Saviour instead
Holding fast His promises given
Seeing His wondrous face His amazing grace This
life in me He is living
Many years He dried my tears Embraced me in His
arms
Stood beside me as I faced my fears
Always there when I needed Him near
Many years He dried your tears Embraced you in
His arms
Always there when you needed Him near

poured from my heart to the pen. How it got on paper, Yahweh only knows. I don’t
feel like I had anything to do with it.~ Sarah

NOT MY WILL
by Sarah Naylor 1998
A hard lump of clay, as cold
as a stone
Lay
upon a Potter’s wheel
It
wouldn’t yield, it wouldn’t mold
Just
sat there with stubborn will
But
the patient hand’s worked without pause
Wetting the clay with water
And
slowly, so slowly, it began to break down
Giving
into the Potter
From
that moment on a shape took form
Not
just a lump of clay
And if
that mud could talk to you
You
would have heard it say
Chorus
-
Not my
will, but yours alone
I
surrender my life to you
Not my
will but yours be done
Mold
me for your use
That
hard lump of clay so stubborn was me
Yet
the potter never let me go
He
softened me with his kindness and grace
Molding me with his love
And by
the time he was finished
I said
with all my heart…
Chorus

COME THOU FOUNT
by Robert Robinson 1758
When our dear friend Frank
Wolking suggested we work out a song with all three fiddles, we thought we'd try
it with this wonderful old hymn. Little did we know it would become our "most
requested", and that certain people...okay one very special certain
person...would travel miles just to hear it!!! But seriously, it was really fun
to work this one up, trying to use our strings to their fullest potential. And
the lyrics that Mr. Robinson wrote all those years ago are still so inspiring,
heart-felt and challenging...making this one of our favorite hymns of all.

Storms of
Life
The two of
us sat down and decided to write a song.Well, this is what came out. It started
out as a song about physical storms but turned into “Storms of Life”
and how God plans our life so that - as our friend, Ted is so fond of saying -
even if something goes wrong, it goes wrong just right. ~ Jeremy

STORMS OF LIFE
by Jeremy and Caleb Naylor
2006
The wind started blowing and
the sky got all dark,
The
hail came down and put a dent in my car.
That dent was a lesson that
I'll not forget,
It cost a little money but
that wasn't it.
Things don't happen just how
we plan
'Cause God’s plan is
different, please understand.
Chorus:
Storms of life... Gonna get
tough but you have to trust
God will suffice...........
Cause everything always goes wrong just right.
I woke up in the morning at 7
AM
Then looked at the clock and
it's half past ten.
The weather was okay but I
had to complain
Now I'm driving to work and
it's pouring down rain
100mph in a 35 zone,
The rain's not as pretty
behind steel bars and stone.
Chorus
As I'm on my knees it's
amazing to me
The things God seems to send
my way
I had to cancel my
appointment, had a dent in my car
and took a little time to
think behind those steel bars
Well, He sent those storms as
lesson you see
So that His good will, will
show through me.
Chorus

It’s You
One early
quiet morning I was reading John Piper's book -Don't Waste Your Life- I
looked up to think about something I had read......... and I began to pray..............I sensed
the presence of Yahshua so near, and I sang this song to Him. Hence
......... this song of praise for my Redeemer. ~ Karin

IT'S YOU
by Karin Naylor 2006
It's You- You are the master
of my life
It’s You that I desire, in
adoration I come before You.
It’s You –Who fills me with
Your love
It’s You that lights the way,
in humbleness I kneel before You.
Chorus:
My Redeemer, the one and only
God
Beloved Son and Saviour
Who am I that you could love
me so…
I will praise Your Name
forever.
It’s You – The beginning and
the end
It’s You who calls me friend
–
so undeserving I bow before
You
It’s You – only Your voice
will I hear
It’s You Who will appear –on
that day I pray I’m worthy to stand
Chorus
Repeat first verse

Ocean Song
Ah, yes...the Ocean Song.
Seems like the younger six of us
worked on that beginning
forever, always trying to fit it into a song somehow, and it never quite
working.
Sarah is
pretty.....let's say determined. Yes, Sarah is determined.. Not wanting that
cool orchestration to go to waste, she put her mind to it, and came back with
this song.. We love it! In fact, John is working on making
a video to go along with
it!!! We'll see what comes of that endeavor. Meanwhile....

THE OCEAN SONG
words by Sarah...melody by the Naylors 200?
There’s
a great big ocean Created by Your hand
You filled it up with
creatures, Water and the sand
There goes the stinging sea
ray The porpoises at play
Down in the depths of the
ocean They bring glory to your name
Can’t you see it? Don’t you
hear all earth is praising His name?
Sea otters wrapped in seaweed
Starfish get around
Somewhere out there swimming
A shark without a sound
See the dolphins surfing
Whales breaching in the waves
Silhouetted in the sunset
They sing Your Awesome praise
Don’t you hear all earth is
praising His Name?

At Your Feet
While
working one day on a paint job I had a task before me that I dreaded. I tried to
lift my thoughts beyond what I was doing, and think about things that had
nothing to do with what I was doing at the moment. As I talked to Yahweh about
these things, this song came forth from my heart trying to surrender to Him,
knowing that I can be at His feet and in His presence no matter where I am or
what I am doing. ~ Tera

AT YOUR FEET
by Tera Dahlby 2007
I’ll praise You in the storm
And when the sky is bright.
I’ll praise You in the bad
And when everything’s just right.
I’ll praise You
Chorus:
For You are on Your throne
And I am at your feet.
You are in control And I just
have to wait. So I’ll praise You.
I’ll praise You when the sun
Is shining on my face
I’ll praise You when the rain
Is pouring in this place.
I’ll praise You
Chorus
Feast or famine, Flood or
drought,
When my cup’s half full Or
it’s half emptied out.
I’ll praise You.

I TIMOTHY 4:12
by Sarah Naylor
Let no man despise thy youth
Let no man despise thy youth
We’re to be Examples of the believers
In word, in spirit, in truth.
Let no man despise thy youth
Let no man despise thy youth
We’re to be Examples of the believers
In faith, in love, in purity.

His Ways
The theme of this song is
Yahweh’s creation and how it should remind us of Him, and how we can
see His power to orchestrate life through it. We need to give our life to Him so
He can guide us through every moment in all we do.
~ Jeremy

HIS WAYS
by Jeremy Naylor 2005
I’ve been to California and
to north Montana,
Arkansas and Kansas I’ve been
there many a time,
Well there’s something
everywhere I’ve been that makes me think a lot of Him,
In the mountains, the
prairies, the streams.
Chorus:
We need Him to guide us,
Every hour, every minute, every day,
He said He’d walk right there
beside us, If we will just walk in His way.
I’ve seen His creation
everywhere from the wild flower to the grizzly bear,
Everywhere I’ve ever been
there’s something new to see,
Snow caped mountains and
alpine lakes as the sun drops down behind the peeks
Marking the end of another
day.
Chorus
As shadows rise on the canyon
walls,
The cold wind blows and the
rain does fall
And the clouds way up above
us, They’re all gray
When things get hard He’s
always there.
When you need a hand He’ll
answer a prayer
In His word are the answers
never fear.
Chorus

Banjo, Harmony vocal; Tera – Cello; Sage –Fiddle, Harmony vocal;

Against the
Flow
The fact
that writing this song was like paddling a boat up river is ironic. I wrote a
verse and chorus and then hit a mind block. Tera helped me through that, and when it
was done it went on the shelf – we just couldn’t do anything with it. I’d pull
it out every once in a while, but to no avail. Finally, it clicked, sort
of…enough to get it on the CD. ~ Sarah

AGAINST THE FLOW
by Sarah Naylor 2004
I’m taking the road to
eternal life And it’s a hard path to take
You’ve got to paddle up that
river With the water rushing down
You have to stand with face
like flint Your armor girded on-
You
have to go against the flow.
Chorus:
You have to go against
the flow, In the opposite direction,
You have to stand on the
Solid Rock Don’t let the pressure tear you down.
You have to go against the
flow, In the opposite direction,
You have to stand on the
Solid Rock- Don’t let the pressure tear you down.
When you’re standing there
And you think you’re all alone
Don’t forget the One Who sits
upon the Throne
And just stand your ground
Don’t give in Go against the flow-
Chorus
When there’s nothing but
darkness, Clouds and indecision
When the world seems heavy
And I’m close to falling down
I set my face like flint And
I look to the Rock Who saved me
And I tell myself-
Chorus

Come Be With
Me
"Come unto Me, all ye that
labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 "My sheep
hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me:" John 10:27
I went
before Yahshua in prayer during a very stressful, emotional upheaval to be still
before Him...I thought about the sheepfold and Yahshua with His outstretched
arms beckoning me to come and rest ...It seemed as if He sang this song to
me...~Karin
